What it does
From the first look to the last clean-up.
From the first look at both sides to removing SID history at the end. It reads first, and writes nothing until you choose to.
Connects to both sides
Source and target Active Directory and Entra ID. Pick the kind of merger first, and MigPrep asks only for the connections it needs.
Finds where the truth lives
For each user and attribute: AD, Entra or Exchange Online, taking cloud-managed attributes and Exchange source of authority into account.
Matches every user
Scans both sides and matches users by anchor, SID, UPN, address and employee ID, or from your CSV. Anything it can't be sure of, your team decides.
Shows what changed
Sealed snapshots of each side, then exactly what's changed since: joiners, leavers, changed values, addresses gained and lost. Months later too.
Coexistence and cutover
Mail-enabled users with free/busy while you migrate, a convert-to-mailbox step when you're ready, and one co-ordinated sync scope swap.
Keeps the same cloud user
Carries the sync anchor so the cloud account stays the same object, adds X500s and SID history, and re-applies permissions in permission-aware batches.
How it works
Runs on your server. Your team signs in.
MigPrep Server runs on a management server you choose. Your team signs in to it from the browser with their own work accounts and roles.
Ask for access
Sign in with a free andykemp.com account and tell us about the merger: both organisations' domains and roughly how many users.
Get your licence
Once approved, your licence key appears in your area. It only works against your organisations' own domains.
Install MigPrep Server
The Setup console installs it and registers it in your tenant. Your team signs in as Viewer, Reconciler, Operator or Admin.
Prepare and cut over
Discover, match, reconcile, prepare the target for your data mover, then cut over. Every change is in a tamper-evident audit trail.
Your data
Your directory stays with you.
Your directory data is collected and kept on your own MigPrep Server. You decide what comes back to Andy Kemp Consulting.
Summaries and reports
The default. Counts, blockers, drift and the readiness report come back to your area, so we can both see them. Your user lists and attribute values don't leave your server.
Full snapshots, if you choose
Your engagement's owner can choose to share full snapshots for deeper analysis. They're kept for 90 days, and switching back to summaries deletes them straight away.
Acts as you, never on its own
MigPrep Server has no permissions of its own in your tenant. Every change runs as the person signed in, after a review screen, with their name in the audit trail.
Pricing
Free for early adopters.
In return, we'd like your feedback, and a case study where you're happy to share one.
Then per user, in bands
A user counts once, the first time MigPrep prepares them for the move. Discovery, snapshots, drift and the readiness report never count.
